snapshots, moments frozen in time…Precious memories…
This is day three in our Journey into what Autism Awareness means to me.
If you would like to start at the beginning…..
Today, come with me for a glimpse into my son’s world….
From a Very early age, Star Wars has been a Fascination for Him….
Everything gets Lined up….organized….and don’t Move one, it will start a war
Thomas the Tank engine has been a long-standing friend and comfort zone
Every animal has a name….
He has reminded me to slow down….
to stop and watch the bugs…..
to Stop and smell the flowers…..
He has reminded me of the simple pleasure a Mud puddle can bring….
He has reminded me of the delight of going up in a swing…..
*~*The Swing*~*
How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!
Up in the air and over the wall,
Till I can see so wide,
River and trees and cattle and all
Over the countryside–
Till I look down on the garden green,
Down on the roof so brown–
Up in the air I go flying again,
Up in the air and down!

For the Pure Love of Baseball…in it’s simplest form!
There are days when He tries my patience, when I don’t know what to do, when we go in circles because He can’t tell me WHY He is upset, or what is bothering Him. I have moments when I feel as though I am isolated and alone, when my whole world seems to fall apart, and its in those moments where in the midst of tears, God gives me a smile, a snapshot, a memory …little reminders that my son is a GIFT, a Blessing , a Precious Treasure. Different, but NOT Less, and it’s those moments, the Dandelion presented wrapped in a dirty fist, the Bear hugs from behind as I am washing dishes, the glimpses into my son’s world, Him running through the house singing “Na na na na DAK-MAN!!” that make all the tears, all the stress, all the pain worthwhile.
